Living low-carb and happy - what this blog is all about

So, you’re diabetic, insulin resistant, or just concerned about the impact of too much sugar in your diet. Medicine can counteract some of the problem and keep diabetics alive, but that’s not always enough for good health. So what do you do? The answer is simple: change your eating habits. Implementing such change is more difficult, but fortunately there are some great options out there, options I'm eager to share with you.
I've been living low-glycemic for two years, and I've watched forty pounds of unwanted fat drop away as my energy and motivation went up. I'm happier than I can remember being, and have found many ways to go out to a restaurant or satisfy my sweet tooth with truly tasty sugar-free products (so many of them leave an annoying aftertaste that I set out to find alternatives, which are fortunately becoming a bit more plentiful.)
I want to be clear: Eating low-glycemic might help you to lose weight, but this is not a weight-loss blog. Weight loss is often a short term goal, but an uppity or uncooperative pancreas is generally not a short-term problem. So, this is a lifestyle blog. My primary goal is to help others with insulin resistance, and those who have gone beyond mere resistance to being diabetics. High glycemic foods are poison to such people. I don't think pounds of refined sugar is good for anybody, though, so my advice extends to anyone with health concerns who may want to cut back on foods that cause a rapid surge of insulin.
I will be sharing my story, various bits of knowledge I've picked up, and the tastiest foods I have found. I hope to hear stories from you about your experience in this arena.

Next planned entry: talking about insulin, what too much can do to you, and the best desserts and soft drinks with a low glycemic index.
